Dempsey, Milller Will Be Inducted
During 2012 RE/MAX WLDC Finals
ROANOKE, TEXAS (June 21, 2012) - Long Drivers of America (LDA) announced today that two multiple world champions from Southern California - Pat Dempsey and Frank Miller - are slated for induction into the prestigious LDA Hall of Fame.

Induction ceremonies for the pair are scheduled for Sunday, October 21 in Mesquite, Nev. during the finals of the 2012 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Powered By Dick's Sporting Goods.

Dempsey, 55, a resident of Sunland, added 2011 RE/MAX world championships in both the Super Seniors (50+) and Grand Champions (55+) Divisions to the Senior (45+) Division title he captured in 2002.

Dempsey's 2011 feat of winning two RE/MAX world titles in the same year matched the benchmark established by LDA Hall of Fame member Bobby Wilson in 2009.

Dempsey made a serious bid to collect an unprecedented three titles at the 2011 RE/MAX world finals, reaching the Senior Division semifinals before bowing to eventual champion David Mobley.

Miller, 53, who lives in Covina, owns two RE/MAX world titles of his own. He claimed the Senior Division crown in 2007, defeating Dempsey in the finals with a then-record 394-plus yards. Miller also collected the Super Seniors crown in 2010, prevailing in a match-play finals showdown with Bobby Wilson, 367-365.

Miller, known as "Hollywood" captured the U.S. National Long Drive Championship (forerunner of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship) in 1990.

Previously inducted into the LDA Hall of Fame were: Scott DeCandia and Mike Gorton in 1996; Art Sellinger and Bobby Wilson in 2000; Sean "The Beast" Fister and Michael Hooper in 2002; Jason Zuback in 2003; RE/MAX International executive Mike Reagan in 2004; Evan "Big Cat" Williams and Fred Hooter in 2005; Stacey Shinnick in 2007; Brian Pavlet in 2008.

"We salute Pat and Frank for their sustained excellence in power golf events over an extended period of time," noted Sellinger, LDA's owner and chief executive officer. "Induction into the LDA Hall of Fame represents the pinnacle achievement for long drive professionals. Each of these fierce, battle-tested competitors richly deserves this recognition. We'll pay tribute to their careers in Mesquite this fall."
