Practice Facility Renovations and Temporary Hours
Our practice facility is currently under renovation. Renovations will continue through Friday February 16, 2013. Please note the temporary hours:
Monday - Tuesday – CLOSED ALL DAY
Wednesday - Friday – OPEN 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday - Sunday – OPEN 6:30 am - 4:30 pm

Join us at the Angeles National driving range on Saturday January 19th for the Titleist Fitting Day. Remaining times available are 10:00 am 10:40 am 11:20 am 12:05 pm 12:45 pm, and 1:25 pm.

Understanding Frost Delays
It's that time of year again and even before this post, we have experienced a few days where frost has delayed the start of the day.
Frost is frozen dew that has crystallized on the grass, making it hard and brittle. A grass blade is approximately 90% water and also freezes. When we walk on frost covered grass and green complexes
we can cause the plant to break and then, loose the ability to function normally.
Once the putting surface has been damaged and weakened the plant is more susceptible to disease and invasive weeds. It is estimated that one foursome can leave hundreds of footprints on each green, which could cause severe damage during a frost situation.
Therefore, a short delay is sometimes required in order to protect the plant and insure the quality of the greens remain playable. Delaying the start to your round is the last possible option and we thank you for your understanding. The entire staff works as quickly as possible to get you out on the course as soon as possible when a frost delay occurs.
The weather forecast looks great for January and the course is in great shape.

December Rain Totals and Weather
This December's rain totals have been good for the course! The rains help leach out salts that have accumulated in our soils for all of 2012. This reduction of salts in the soil helps the plant take in water and nutrients with greater ease.
We have had 10 days of recorded rainfall this month, totaling 2.54". For the most part, the rain has been light and steady only getting about 1/3" at a time. Rain fall in this manner allows the course to maximize the rain rather than have have large amounts of runoff which can overwhelm the course.
We welcome the cold storm systems and the rains they brings to Southern California but most importantly, we welcome the snow that these systems bring to the Sierra Nevada's and our local mountains. Without snow pack in our mountains, our drought will likely continue.
As temperatures drop to and below 38 degrees, we will see frost on the course and could experience early morning delays. Please bear with us as we will do our best to get you out on the course. Driving range tee will shift mats during frost delays then return to the grass as temperatures rise.
